Buttermilk Brownies
Ingredients:
Brownies:
1 cup hot water
¾ cup butter,
softened
2-½ cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups sugar
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts
Frosting:
5 tablespoons butter
6 tablespoons milk
1-½ cups sugar
- Combine cocoa and hot water.
- Stir in butter.
- Whisk together dry ingredients and stir into cocoa mixture.
- Add eggs.
- Beat in buttermilk, then vanilla.
- Add nuts.
- Spread on a greased jelly roll pan.
- Bake at 375° F for 20 minutes.
- For frosting, combine butter, milk and sugar in a saucepan.
- Bring to boil over low heat, stirring constantly.
- Boil for 30 seconds, remove from heat.
- Add chocolate chips and stir until smooth and thickened.
- Spread over brownies.
