Cherry Nut Bread
 
 
Ingredients:
 
2 ½ cups flour
1 cup buttermilk

½ cup drained marachino cherries, reserve the juice

¼ cup marachino cherry juice

½ cup sugar

½ cup brown sugar
¼ cup shortening
2 eggs
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking soda
1 cup chopped nuts
 
 
Ingredients:
  • Blend all ingredients except cherries and nuts on low speed 15 seconds.
  • Beat on medium speed just enough to blend, scraping bowl constantly.
  • Fold in cherries and nuts.
  • Pour into prepared loaf pan.
  • Bake 1 hour and 10 to 15  minutes at 350° F.
  • Remove from pan and cool on wire rack.
  • Cool completely before slicing.
