Cherry Nut Bread
Ingredients:
2 ½ cups flour
1 cup buttermilk
½ cup drained marachino
cherries, reserve the juice
¼ cup marachino cherry
juice
½ cup brown sugar
¼ cup shortening
2 eggs
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking soda
1 cup chopped nuts
Ingredients:
- Blend all ingredients except cherries and nuts on low speed 15 seconds.
- Beat on medium speed just enough to blend, scraping bowl constantly.
- Fold in cherries and nuts.
- Pour into prepared loaf pan.
- Bake 1 hour and 10 to 15 minutes at 350° F.
- Remove from pan and cool on wire rack.
- Cool completely before slicing.
