Apple Orchard Meatloaf
 
 
Ingredients:
 
2 pounds ground beef
¾ cup applesauce
1 egg
½ cup dry bread crumbs
1 package onion soup mix
½ teaspoon seasoned salt
½ teaspoon pepper
3 tablespoons spicy brown mustard, divided
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 12-ounce jar mushroom or beef gravy
 
 
Procedure:
  • Mix beef, applesauce, egg, bread crumbs, onion soup mix, salt, pepper and 2 tablespoons mustard.
  • Pat mixture into a loaf shape in a shallow baking pan.
  • Bake for 30 minutes at 350° F.
  • In a small bowl, mix remaining tablespoon of mustard with brown sugar.
  • Spread on top of meatloaf.
  • Bake for another 30 minutes until nicely browned and fully cooked.
  • Remove meatloaf from drippings.
  • Pour drippings into a saucepan and skim fat from drippings.
  • Stir the mushroom or beef gravy into the drippings, and heat, stirring, until hot.
  • Slice meatloaf and serve with gravy.
